Step by step
The perhaps short-lived but unrepeatable years of Rome's Dolce Vita arrived. Luigi took over the management of another prestigious restaurant in the Lido area, Urbinati, which under his guidance revived the fame that had accompanied it. Shortly afterwards, however, a new chapter began. Luigi replaced his brother Manlio in the management of the restaurant, La Vecchia Pineta, where his regular customers included kings, princes and nobles of every caste, big stars, politicians, scholars, financial and cultural figures, discerning customers and haute cuisine connoisseurs.
From an old pine forest to
Sporting Beach
At the beginning of the eighties, a new challenge fascinated him and with his family, but, above all, with the inseparable Rita at his side, he bought Sporting Beach, where, during the renovation of the entire facility, he did not lose sight of the catering tradition, transforming the restaurant, which was purely intended for the summer, into a place that could meet the expectations of its loyal public. And so in the nineties, he moved definitively into this new reality, followed by all the customers who have always appreciated him for his hospitality.
His greatest satisfaction has been to succeed in handing down a business to his sons that is able to embrace a wider public with new traditions, conquered by that same tradition and by a cuisine that, respecting its history, has not failed to evolve and update.
